A Visit To Sonamukhi Bankura
Our Social Activities:”Tribal Treasures Drives” held on 8th October 2023, Sunday at Sonamukhi, Bankura.New clothes distributed to 300 Adivasi people by ‘Long Drive From Kolkata’ (LDFK), who had been committed to supporting various social causes in addition to conducting self-driving long drives.
The ‘Long Drive From Kolkata’ distributed new dresses and also provided a delicious lunch to approximately 300 Adivasi people from 5 villages, namely a) Chauria, b) Shibdanga, c) Hurhure, d) Amchura, and e) Kalyanpur in Sonamukhi Block of Bankura. These Adivasi people stayed in very remote villages in the Sonamukhi Forest of Bankura district. They had neither the means nor access to shops to buy new dresses during the greatest festive season of Bengal, Durga Puja. Therefore, the group decided to carry out these activities just before the Durga Puja season with the help of its willing members. The occasion was graced by the local Police Officials, the Panchayat Pradhan along with other Panchayat Members, Block Development Officer, and other dignitaries as well.Arrangements were made to cook a full meal consisting of Rice, Dal, mixed vegetables, Chicken curry, Chatni, and Rasogolla, at one of the villages named Chauria. All the 300 residents of 5 nearby villages were invited to gather on 8th October at 11 am at the same place where the new dresses were handed over, followed by lunch under a shed.LDFK members supported this noble cause of their own volition. Even a small contribution from any member had been helpful, as it involved a huge cost.We invited our group members to join in the drive to Sonamukhi on 8th October. We gathered with our cars at Dankuni Toll Plaza at 5:00 am and started our journey towards Chauria village of Sonamukhi. The drive through the forest roads had been a memorable occasion. All were advised to carry sufficient drinking water and breakfast in their cars, as we could not afford to waste time stopping for breakfast during our journey. We witnessed the distribution of dresses and let the Adivasi invitees start their lunch. We had lunch together. After completing our noble works around 4:30 pm, we started our journey back to Kolkata with a satisfied feeling in our hearts.
